Postdoc Fellowships: Quantum Solitons in Lanzhou or Yerevan (Deadline: 1 April, 2025)

A postdoctoral fellowship is available at the Quark Matter Center of the Institute of Modern Physics, CAS, in Lanzhou, China. The candidate is expected to carry out research on the theme of quantum solitons (and/or related objects such as oscillons or Q-balls) and collaborate with our quantum soliton group. We are interested in Hamiltonian methods for studying quantum solitons, with a focus on finding their states, masses and amplitudes/rates for various processes. Our guiding goal is to understand monopole condensation in (non)-supersymmetric QCD.
The initial salary is 100k-200k RMB/year (minus 20% for tax) depending on qualifications with an increase to 300k possible. The initial postdoc duration is 2 years with no firm limit on the number of extensions, except that the candidate must continuously be less than 35 years old.
Two more postdoctoral fellowships are available at the Yerevan Physics Institute in Yerevan, Armenia under a Remote Laboratory grant for the study of Quantum Solitons. The research theme is the same as the Lanzhou position. The base salary is about 400k dram/month gross but this may be doubled by simultaneously winning a postdoc at the same institute. So far, most candidates for the institute postdoc are successful, however there are only 2-3 calls open/year and it takes at least 6 months between the application for the institute postdoc and receiving the money. The postdoc position lasts 2 years. The remote laboratory fellowship position also lasts 2 years but it can in principle be renewed until 2029.
Candidates for any of these positions should send the usual application materials to jarah@impcas.ac.cn.
